NZ Frenzy North is the North Island's best outdoors guidebook. This guidebook has details about all the top tourist spots, but it excels when detailing the off-the-path hidden spots around the island. Check the reviews on Amazon.com to see what NZ travelers think! My book is available as an instant-download PDF on my website www.NZFrenzy.com. cheers, scott

The stones actually shape the North Island in a way.

I've now been told that a lizard was tattooed on the arch as a boundary marker, but don't know the origin of that information. The arch is also on Auckland Libraries website ref 741-9201 (http://www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/dbtw-wpd/heritageimages/).

I am surprised to still see Blaine Franger's work here represented as a photo by Summerraa. Here is a link to his facebook page for Hood River, with the photo as the cover shot. https://www.facebook.com/beautifulhoodriverHere is Blaine's photography site with this photo, to show where it comes from. I know Blaine personally, he is a fine person who works hard to get his lovely photos. DO NOT STEAL! http://beautifulhoodriver.com/index.php?showimage=7

This is a Wishrum Tribe (North of Dalles) style Rock Art popular around 2000 years ago. Why a pregnant woman and family were up here was probably collecting and drying local salmon in creek; and they used to make the runs clear up to bates area with all season salmon runs. Why the pregnant woman died will never be known However, I assume her mother and family painted rock white and then detailed red to tell story/Prayers for local spirits to take her and baby straight up to Great Spirit in stars.

I like that speed limit on the beach! ;-)

But location if couple of kms off. Shall be more north, at Ninety Miles Beach Holiday Park. Near lake Ngatu and Waipapakauri.

This sign is almost pointing to the gravesite of Ellen Sophia Lynn b.London UK 1854, died 20 April 1895 Glorit NZ as Mrs Hans Kjoller. There was no cemetery so Ellen was buried on their farm. See Hans' grave at Glorit Cemetery.
