This photo shows a small part of the large crowd celebrating Tintamarre ( loud noise ) at Caraquet. This is an annual event for the Acadian ( French speaking ) people of New Brunswick. This year is extra special because the World Acadian Congress is being held here at the same time.

This shows the entrance (on the left) to the former Stafford Branch Canal and the River Sow. It led to a small pound and then to an aqueduct before entering a lock which was known as Baswich Lock or St Thomas' Lock. Boats would lock down onto the River Sow and travel to a Coal Wharf at Green Bridge in the centre of Stafford about a mile away. See "Stafford Riverway Link" or contact d.j.jones@freenet.co.uk .
