"Actually", the Cape "area" was originally named by the French settlers, who mistook the copper deposits in the cliffs, for gold. In later years, it had been a thriving copper mining community, but of course, is no longer.
This lighthouse is now spray-painted on & wide open. The first set of interior stairs are removed, but you can tell kids have climbed up to the next portion. I fear that it is one of those cases where the Coast Guard is just about to demolish her.
Its a lovely photo, Howie. Thanks for sharing. My dad would be proud. We used to count the number of cars that would park in this spot per day in the summer (when we weren't in the fields haying) to take pictures of the community. There's a big tree standing in the way of the view now that has to be removed! ;)
