Reminds me of my visit there with the Boy Scouts of Bavaria in 1980. Great visit, nice people, good friendship. I loved to be there in Scotland and Inverness. Thank you! Kind regards, Uwe from Augsburg
I served in the USAF at Melville Air Force Station 1959/60. A buddy and I camped on the smaller of the two islands a short distance down from Muskrat Falls at the beginning of July 1960. We fished, we swam and drank a few cans of Budweiser during the three days that we camped there.
I wish this base was still open, I was stationed till they close it down in 2004, big mess, big mistake for the Puertorican people. I have a house in Ceiba, PR. I plan to retire in 3 more years, too bad the installation is close... thanks for this pic.
Wieso "Former German AF Camp"? 1998 war ich zum letzten Mal dort, mit einem NDR-TV-Team. Nach Abschluss der Dreharbeiten kam es an diesem Ort zu einer legendäüren Abschlussfeier. Am nächsten Morgen hatten wir Schwierigkeiten, uns an unsere eigenen Namen zu erinnern. Sind die Deutschen umgezogen? Oder hängen jetzt alle in "Trappers Cabin" rum?
