That's quite a "close encounter" you had! That must have been quite a show. I like your simple and understated comment, "I decided to stay put" :)

Don't know if I would be able to sit on top of a house in a thunderstorm after the experience Meryl and I had when we were dating back in 1968.

While on a double date to the beaches of Mississippi near Biloxi, my friend and his date took the car into town for a milk shake. While they were gone, a thunderstorm blew in from the Gulf and we had nowhere to go but, being the only people and the highest points on the beach, we knew we did not want to be there.

Finally, when there was no delay between lightning and thunder, we decided that was not the place to be. We ran across the highway to a house, rang the doorbell and, when we got no answer, decided to ride out the storm on the porch.

Soon, there was a flash and simultaneous clap of thunder. A few minutes later we saw a firetruck responding to a house fire less than a block away.

We haven't been to a Mississippi beach since :)
