I am an enthusiastic amateur. I take mainly 35mm film. My photographic aspiration is to produce landscape photos that present the subject in the most pleasing and natural way possible. I no longer participate in the forum due to the absolute pig's ear that G**gle have made of it. I appreciate sincere comments and will endeavour to visit the galleries of those who leave them. "Bridges not Walls" indeed - a fine sentiment. I spend a lot of time looking at graveyards and memorials. This shot shows both elements and I am happy I found it in your pages.

Luckily, I have never been to war, but this monument does make me sit and consider the bravery, anguish and sadness of those who went and those who waited for their return.

Thanks for looking (and I suspect feeling the same emotions)

Thanks AH. Your rhyme made me smile as it reminded me of an old friend.

Hi American Hillbilly and thanks for being the first to comment on my first ever upload!

You are welcome back anytime.

Was it 3 years later the road bit your forearm?

© Alan L. Good morning to you Alan and thanks for your kind comments ~ All the best ~ nick

A message to my dearest friend.

You are the light that showed me the way,

you are the friend that made me feel brave,

you are the mate that takes my mind away,

from all the worries of the a bad day,

You are the one person who told me how it was,

not cloud or cover over all the things that were wrong,

the flash of light your camera made,

it always had to better than mine, upgraded again,

You are the Dad that my real life’s never had,

the Fatha who was there for me, not just a fad,

the mate who made my life feel full,

the bloke that made everyone feel so alive,

It feels strange now that you are not around,

the struggles of life now fall on some silent ground,

the life you had was colourful bright and loud,

I will try and keep your warm memory’s of life alive,

The world still turns around and around,

without you here it’s very quiet I have found,

your life was wonderful brave and full of sound,

you are the best friend that I could have ever found.

Good night, sleep tight, keep fighting on,

up there in the clouds, on a bed of air,

my life will have to go on, without you here,

and yes I know it’s going to feel very long,

Night Bud, See you later, and yes I always will say later because you always said "its not later if its tomorrow".

With love Peter, it’s been an honour to care for you mate.

i thank you all for your loving comments. i am very grateful that God gave me those precious years with my 'knight in shining armor'. God does know i am very grateful. i'm sure that's why God has given me so much comfort. none of his family will have nothing to do with me, so i guess i don't need to stay in contact with them. many happy memories of his grandkids growing up are very precious. i'm content, healthy and a 'happy camper'.

Nice shot, LIKE.,Best regards, Steve
