I am an enthusiastic amateur. I use 35mm film and digital. My photographic aspiration is to produce landscape photos that present the subject in the most pleasing and natural way possible. I no longer participate in the forum due to the absolute pig's ear that G**gle have made of it. I appreciate sincere comments and will endeavour to visit the galleries of those who leave them. Carmen was good and I think Linda is hungry for more! We did not make it all the way to the top of the memorial - only as far as the "Stuff This!" level and I couldn't hear the traffic above the noise of my beating heart. The climb to the castle was more manageable and we did call in at the National Gallery (foreground in the photo) on the way, which was very impressive. Thanks

That's what I liked too Amelia. I told Linda I had been here many years ago on a road trip with friends and it would be a good place for lunch, but there were no pubs, restaurants or cafes. We ended up in Kelso for a snack before finally heading home. Many thanks

Hello Keith thank you i am pleased it brings back memories ... steam excursions on the mail lines around the UK have been few and far between this year due to an incident earlier on in the year but we do have a few in December running through Lincolnshire to look forward too

best wishes ,,, steve

Many thanks Nick. There's nothing like a low autumn sun for bringing out detail!

From this point of view the tower looks like a living thing, watching at me... maybe to eat me. Slightly frightening -but anyway calling. Well done. (Could work even stronger without the flag pole.)

Derek Geer Thanks Derek that is what prompted me to take the shot ~ All the best ~ nick

I'm sure there has been some renovation in this tower, Keith, or maybe the walls were built by the apprentices, and the master builder did the ceiling. Of course the Monday conundrum could be solved by saying that the walls were a Friday afternoon job. ;-)

Cheers, Amelia

An effect achieved with an active grandson (Cameron) and 3 frames per second shooting! Thanks again.

Keith

ps: We are off to the "burg" tomorrow for a couple of days, when we will be seeing Bizet's Carmen and doing some gentle sight-seeing. We are looking forward to it.

When they have finished with mine I'll send them over Amelia. I know that they renovated the Battery buildings some time ago, but I don't know how much work they had to do. I just like the sun light and shadows. Thanks

Keith
