There is a strip of private land along the river in the valley with federal lands (National Park and National Forest) on either side. Both federal lands are classed as wilderness, so it is an interesting combination. However, it does lead to some management problems protecting the river

Me, Linda, the fishermen and a couple of dog walkers. The patterns on the sand are formed by sea coal grains being washed up at high tide before the sea tries to drag it back as the tide falls.

I am biker and an amateur photographer living in the County of Northumberland, Northeast England.\ \ My favourite subject for photographs is Landscape and Buildings, although I will try anything at least once.\ \ Most of my gallery consists of pictures taken with cheap compacts acquired on ebay. My first Digital Camera was a Nikon Coolpix 3100 which cost nearly £300 when new. For the last two years I was convinced it was broken, but it turned out to be the battery charger and with new batteries and charger it worked perfectly. I also have used a Kodak DX3900 (£36), a Pentax Optio 50 (£29, now sold) and a Kodak CX7525 (£17, now sold). All of these cameras have given me results I am happy with. \ \ I currently use a Kodak Z812IS superzoom bridge camera.\ \ My post-processing amounts to small adjustments in light, contrast and saturation. I have used the clone stamp for minor imperfections, but always feel guilty afterwards. I do not use HDR. I realise it can be a useful tool but I have seen so many bad examples that I have decided to live without it (for the moment).\ \ I have also recently acquired 3 35mm SLR cameras: An Olympus OM10, a Zenit E and a Praktica Super TL (now binned). I am enjoying re-learning the joys of manual focus and the self control necessary with film photography. Results so far are "getting there".\ I hope my new Canoscan 8800F will help improve the quality of my scans of negs and slides, old and new. \ My photographic aspiration is to produce landscape photos that present the subject in the most pleasing and natural way possible.
