Cheers Diva. Entrance to old track now underwater and well overgrown with gorse. Waterfall about 1 mile back in valley to left of lake. There is an old exploratory mine shaft at base of waterfall that we used to play in as kids. I think it was used to test rock strata before dam was built. The origional Te Mahoe village reservoir was built just below the waterfall in the '60s. If you can find the stream - it will lead you back to the waterfall.

Looking east across Kawerau to Putauaki (Mt Edgecumbe). Photograph taken from Monica Lanham Reserve - January 2008. The two radio masts can just be seen on top of the mountain.

Looking across Kawerau swimming pools & Central Business District. Steam rising from Norske Skog Paper Mills can be seen in the background. Whale Island, (Motuhora, 11 kms off the Whakatane coast); can be seen to the left of the mill on the horizon.
