Posted a comment on another photo of the same building. This is the entry control point into the Quick Reaction Area (QRA). Several planes inside were kept loaded with nukes and ready to fly within 5 minutes.
This is a picture of the back of the entry control point of what used to be the Quick Reaction Area. Seven planes in the area were uploaded with nuclear bombs and kept on alert status.
Ouch. This one hurts to see... it really does. Hahn AB, was my first duty station after I enlisted in the USAF. I loved it there. Even more, I loved GERMANY! My 3 short years there were NOT enough. Thank you SO MUCH for ALL of your photos of the former Air Bases and Army Posts. I really appreciate your efforts and your sharing of them.

It's so sad to me to see all these abandoned bases and posts.... I know change happens, and the big picture is that it's good that Germany doesn't need all our military bases anymore... but it still hurts my heart. [Great photos.
