Thank you, my sister Margaret was up there at the time, born in '49. Given the size of the community, you were probably play pals.

The dog is Monty (Montgomery?) He belonged to Carl Calland. I was a very small child in Snare River between about 1948 and the summer of 1951, but I don't think any of those children is me.

In the summer, you would see that this cabin is raised off the ground level. Talk about deep snow ...

This was one tree. It is the result of First Nations peeling strips of bark from a Western red Cedar ( Thuja plicata ) for traditional uses, time and again over centuries. The tree fell across the trail in a storm and was cut through to re open the trail. A unique photo of a multi generational culturally modifed tree. Tree to figure out for yourself the order of bark strippings.
