Dear "pakx", I am Dr. Alexandros Frantzis from the Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute, a scientific NGO studying whales and dolphins in Greece. You have photographed a short-beaked common dolphin (Delphinus delphis), which is not common at all anymore despite its name. This species has disappeared from the biggest part of the Mediterranean Sea. A few populations units still survive in the northern Aegean Sea. Would you be kind enough to provide the exact date (or month and year at least) that you took the photo and describe as well as you can the position (e.g. 1 km sout-east of ...), together with the number of animals that you observed. You can contact us at afrantzis@otenet.gr or www.pelagosinstitute.gr

Dear friend, I am contacting you as scientific coordinator of the Pelagos Cetacean Research Institute. We are studying these whales in Crete since more than 10 years now and we know them almost all one by one through photo-identification. Your observation and photo can be very useful from the scientific point of view. Can you please contact us at afrantzis@otenet.gr or at +30-210-8960108? Thanks in advance.
