Fascinating. Great and lucky shot.
I happened across this location this week.. Pity that it was half worked on to restore and abandoned again!
Thank you @Clark100 !
One of the "Easter Eggs" that I found long after taking this snapshot, was that handwritten sign, "Happy Thanks Giving Closed Thurs". The cases of HEET, coin vending machines, cans of oil, all bring me back to the day of working the full service over on Burnsville Parkway for Steve Fox at his Mobil station next to 35W. No pay-at-the-pump, but always offering to clean windshields, checking oil and filling low tires. 69 through 90 was quite a long stint! You sure saw a lot of changes during your tenure.
Thanks for sharing your story, Clark100
Wow! What a pretty Place!
Thank you for the kind comments, Dale.
I hope your recollections of working at Dick's were good ones. A lot has changed since this photo was taken, and not just the breaking the $1 mark for a gallon of gas or introduction of "unleaded". I worked the Mobil on Burnsville Parkway a few years after this shot, while we were still manning the full-service line, assisting folks on the self-service line, all while trying to get work done in the service bays. I'm glad I captured this image and of the Cedar Avenue Clark "Super 100" station when I did. http://www.panoramio.com/photo/52685287
there is a local story about a farmer who went crazy in this barn. He couldn't find a corner to relieve himself in. :)
Impressive sepia pic!!!
Greetings from Slovakia,
There is a wonderful independent film entitled "Sweet Land" that used the Montevideo Depot in part of it's filming and surrounding area in Minnesota for the rest of the filming.
Very Awesome Picture!!!
FAVORITE AND LIKE
No fish. Not a "lake". Just a "settling pond", a place for rain from the new streets to "settle" pollution into before the water is sent to the real "lakes".
Yes, a nice view of the new homes surrounding the man-made ponds in this new home development. Now there are homes on both sides of this pond, so I no longer fly my radio controlled planes here and this view now belongs to a new home owner. Thank you for the comment "G.M.C. Neto". There are a lot of "beautiful pictures" in the Minnesota area of the USA.
