There's already a nice picture of this church (the Old Whaling Church). This one should be relabeled something like "Upper Facade (or Pediment) of the Old Whaling Church."
It was on the lawn of this courthouse that I shook Bobby Kennedy's hand. Also on this lawn my friend Diane Davis and I won an award for the most Halloweenish of independent parade participants. I was a mortician pulling a casket with a living ghost in it (my brother Chuck), she trailed us with a sign Davis' Grave diggers, about 1964.
In the park directly across the street we would visit Santa Claus. The park had incredible oak trees. My father worked in the Unidilla Telephone comany, that is no longer there on the park, or any where for that matter. In 1965 I remember him telling us that someday people would send letters over the phone. Yea, right Dad.
