Gerallt Roberts's conversations

Thank you for your comments.

Your suspicion is correct, there are more than one Bwlch y Groes in Wales, The one between Dinas Mawddwy and Llanuwchllyn is the most famous of them, because it is the highest pass, in Wales, where you can drive your car over. This particular Bwlch y Groes is between Waenfawr and Llanberis, and it is the last climb on the Marathon Eryri, one of the toughest races you can run.

I have tagged this image to the location where it was taken on Panoramio, or as close as I can make it. What I suspect what has happened is that some search engine has picked up on the name, and not the actual location, I don’t have much control over that I’m afraid.

Incidentally, there are also more than one Moel Eilio.

For those who may be unaware, this photograph seems to be of the surface mess made by the laying of a gas pipeline that runs from Milford Haven in Pembrokeshire to England and passes close to Hay.

Yes, the thickness of ice was 0.77 yards last year. Cars went on ice, as well as 10 years ago. But on Volga used about 3 ice drifts within winter last years. The winter begins in the end of December, and comes to an end in the beginning of March now. 3 months of everything, and earlier winter proceeded from November, 15th till April, 15th. Translation into Russian is good. But more competently to tell: У вас в России настоящая зима! But I have not understood value postscript in the italic type? (does babel fish work?)

Diolch.

Thank you for your kind comments, the photo was taken late in the afternoon, and the sea mist had already started to roll in.

To understand Welsh a little better you can use this online dictionary. Only a word at the time though, and it does not handle mutations very well, for example “dda” will be “da” in the dictionary. Translating is part of the fun :-)
