This house is loooong gone, as of this writing (Dec. 08)...just the pilings remain.
This er..house which is nonexistent now actually was never fully built from my understanding. They had an issue when some debris from it ended up in the ocean, so they put the project on hold for a couple of years then it was just dropped.
I've also been told that each of these owners had a hefty fine placed on them when they ditched the houses, and I can only guess how hefty of a price the land originally was!
How familiar are you with this area? Because yes before Hurricane Wilma it wasn't the full 700 yards off shore..it was maybe 200...the other 600 had been being washed slowly away the storm just hurried the process up.
The couple that built this house originally had a few arguments about where they were placing it. The mans wife bickered about it being so far away from the water but her husband predicted exactly this happening and said they'd be safer back there. Then some building permit when wack and they never were able to live in the house, but forked out tons for it to rot away on the beach. Pitty no?
