I have had a life-long interest in photography. An interest in the outdoors and natural resource management led to employment with the National Park Service and later the US Forest Service. During this time I developed a special interest in caves, bats, and nature in general. I am now retired, but continue assisting agencies as an environmental engineering consultant. Travel, and many days spent in the field, provide ample opportunity for photography. Many of the photos shown here are the result of finding myself in unique or little-visited locations. I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I do taking them.

Thanks Larry. This bird was found in the same location we usually see a heron. I am starting to wonder if it's the same individual. We are impressed by the success of the delta restoration and the number of birds using it. We counted eight bald eagles in trees along the Nisqually River.

Beautiful place, interesting foreshortening, excellent composition. Liked. Thank you. With friendly hello and respect from Odessa, belovka.

Beautiful Photo - LK - Merry Christmas & Happy new year

Best Wishes

I'm glad you liked the photo. I had the opportunity of working for a season in the Mojave Desert in 2010 so was able to pick the temperature. The remainder of the Mojave, at higher elevations, is quite tollerable during the summer. I made one late August trip to the valley as you did and encountered similar temperatures. Definately the winter is the best choice!

This is a stunning shot of a Mount Baker. Like.
