I've always loved nature and the outdoors, there is something magical about it. Why is it that scenes of nature are used to evoke the calm serenity of spiritual materials while also to inspire and motivate viewers of motivational material? The way it calms yet invigorates the spirit can only be described as harmony.

Is it possible to capture the Zen of the forest? I have seen many come very close and often wonder if I will ever approach the quality I've seen by others. In the end I am happy to have any excuse to venture into God's country regardless of the outcome but often fantasize about getting paid to do it.

What I like most about photography is the way it changes the way I look at the world, I notice the flowers, the way the light reflects off a persons eye and the ever changing colors and shapes.

Jeroen, About that composition, I was very fortunate not to get me and the camera very wet here. I was standing on top of that big fallen tree and had to place the left tripod leg out on a limb to the left. The tree is covered in moss, which was of course very wet, and the footing wasn't great. This spot is definitely one of those 'no risk, no reward' sort of things.
