I've always loved nature and the outdoors, there is something magical about it. Why is it that scenes of nature are used to evoke the calm serenity of spiritual materials while also to inspire and motivate viewers of motivational material? The way it calms yet invigorates the spirit can only be described as harmony.

Is it possible to capture the Zen of the forest? I have seen many come very close and often wonder if I will ever approach the quality I've seen by others. In the end I am happy to have any excuse to venture into God's country regardless of the outcome but often fantasize about getting paid to do it.

What I like most about photography is the way it changes the way I look at the world, I notice the flowers, the way the light reflects off a persons eye and the ever changing colors and shapes.

Well, some of the other cameras (not necessarily more expensive... I think) have "spot AF" as an option. I know 7D does... and now 5D III :) I guess, in theory, estimating the distance between the "obstacle" and the subject and moving forward/back the same distance with the camera, without refocusing, would be another option. But I've never been able to make it work.
