these are not mortars in the traditional archaeological nomenclature. they were formed by erosion, not humankind. they are too deep and large.

yep. i like to just drive around on roads that dont look like their traveled much and this was one of them.. i was just drivin by and saw that and was like ??? did i see what i just thought i saw? and turned around.. they sure were cute. haha.
