This Western-style building was constructed in 1909. The Museum's exhibits include the oldest photo taken during Commodore Perry's visit to Hakodate in 1854, as well as other valuable historical photographic materials. In the "experience corner," you can take beautiful studio-quality photos with historical backdrops using your own camera.

Designed by the Shanghai Construction Bureau of England, this modern two-story structure was the British Consulate from 1859 to 1934. It is now open to the public as a museum displaying the early days of the opening of the port. It also serves as a restaurant and a shop dealing in imported goods made in England. A Municipal Tangible Cultural Property.

Founded in 1859 as a chapel of the Russian Consulate, the present church was built in 1916. In this time-honored church a Russian priest named Nikolai first introduced Greek Orthodoxy into Japan. It is characterized by an elegant look of Byzantine style and is affectionately called "Gangan-dera"(Ding-dong temple) by Hakodate citizens. A National Important Cultural Property.
