I also was stationed in Guam in the early 70's during the time when the last Japanese soldier was captured. A friend of mine was in the Hospital when they brought him in. I was stationed in Drydock Div.and worked aboard the USS Richland AFDM-8

I was stationed on Guam in 1952 and 1953. Some friends and I visited this area. I remember many unexploded rockets, bombs and hand grenades along with 3 Sherman Tanks. I took some 35mm color slides and I will post them after converting the slides.

I remember going down inside of this sub sometime between 1951-54 as a kid when I lived on Guam when my dad was stationed at COMNAVMAR. The sub had not been restored at that time and it was pretty scary to climb down into.
