I was at Shemya in 1969-1970 and I lived in this Hangar 2. I was part of the SAC PCS team with Det 1, 6th Strat Wing. My office (next to the Orderly Room) is probably part of the newly constructed western town. I arrived right after the aircraft slid off the runway. I was TDY to Eielson during the investigation. Thanks for sharing the photo and Cobra Ball. The Hangar brings back memories. I was the youngest (rank and age) of the team....45 years ago....turned 22 out there.
A este es el pueblo de la serie hombres del artico ,realmente que lugar no , en el fin del mundo ja , desde argentina un saludo a todos los "tananienses"
That radome on top of the mountain, I was stationed there in the early 70's while in the AF. What an experience. We used to race sleds (Radio Flyers) down that zig zag road to base camp. I forget the milage, but it took almost an hour to get to base camp. The photo looks like late spring. I have a similar photo taken in mid May comming home on leave.

It gets worse if you go further north: try Shishmaref or Diomede ....
