You're right Bob, it is a panorama and for practical purposes it has had to be compressed beyond reasonable limits. On the other hand, it gives a reasonable impression of the extent of this massive colony. If you want the full image, which is very sharp and even and looks great spread across a 1.2 metre print, I can email it to you: only 38.5 Mb.

It would be great to see some of your photos posted so the rest of Panoramio can subject them to rational criticism.

The yellow oilseed flowers shot was taken in late April, despite what is says in the photo details. Herefordshire is a beautiful part of UK, reasonably underpopulated by tourists. I also love the Lake District, though when I last visited it in 2007 I was appalled by the difference in the place since I first walked there in 1970. So touristy and artificial compared to what it was then! I probably won't bother going back there.
