OH MY GOD!!! I'm not much of a religious person, but there has to be a "Higher Power" of some sort watching over me/us at times. Who knows, maybe my father is watching from heaven and senses how I miss the area that I grew up in. I say this because, while on my computer, I stumbled upon pictures without searching for them at all. Honestly, I was spying on my mother, who now lives in East Hillburn, N.Y., via Google 3-D. Anyway, these pictures kept popping up on my screen. Out of nowhere, they became, what I thought was annoying! I'ld close the pictures, but a moment later they would pop up again. Eventually, I took notice to thier names and realized these "annoying" pictures where of places I was familiar with...extremely familliar with! They where of a small, so called "backwoods" village, nestled within the Ramapo Mountains. Its name is Sloatsburg. It is where I was born and raised. Today, I live in New York State's Capital District area(Albany,Troy & Schenectady, N.Y.), but I still concider Sloatsburg to be my home town. As a child, and into my young adult years, I hunted the mountains and fished the beautiful streams/rivers/lakes and ponds of the Ramapo Mountains. After 20 or more years living there, I thaught I had had enough of the small town attitude and left Sloatsburg for the "Capital District". Today, I rest my hat in Schenectady, N.Y., but my heart will always lie in Sloatsburg. As Carol Burnette would say, "Thanks for the memories". Thanks a million!

There was another Davis Sports store that burned down in the early 90s. That one was on the corner of Rte 17 and Eagle Valley Road. There is a post office there now.
