jimidriver's conversations
In 1955 I was a soldier looking after the railway sidings in Villach. The local Austrian man doing likewise, brought me here to the Ossiacher See to fish. We were about 200m to the right of this pic in a small boat. I caste out my line. He said "not yet". I thought "how strange" and continued. He said "wait for a while". He looked at his watch. "OK now we can fish". I thought it was about laws or rules. Wow! ... We caught about 40 kilos of fish in just a few minutes. How did he know when to start? Beats me! Bill.

If you look at the meeting of the two waters just to the west of the island.... using Google Earth... you will clearly see one of the wonders of Google. Caught in the act!... Sharks feeding on the seals from the island. Bill.

jimidriver thanks for the comments and your visit . I have fished here often myself , awhile ago there was the ( Mull of Galloway Big Game Club ) that often fished from East Tarbet now a long time disbanded. , Tope ,Spurdog and Bull Huss were often caught , in the 1970s Dr Deitrich Burkle was the only one to catch a mako shark in the tide rip off the Lighthouse ! ! ! . Idont think another has ever been caught ....

Notice the difference in the sea surface. Five tides meet here and cause very strange effects on the currents. Bill.

When a young soldier on leave I fished 27 incoming tides in 14 days on that harbour. My catch?..... Hmm... Not a lot.

I made money in this pool in the early'70s. I had been living on spearfishing. No fat all muscle. The bet was that I could lie on my back on the bottom for two minutes without holding on to something. Nobody believed it. So they bet ... and lost.
