vnvetlester's conversations

Jaap,

this is a small village up in the mountains about 25 miles west of Chu Lai along the Song TraBong river. You have to remember that this was taken back in 1970 and was rebuilt several times from attacks from the VC. We would let the people work for us and help them out when they needed us.That is why some of the men were walking through the village.

I'm sure they sprayed Agent Orange along with insect spray.

I was assigned to HHD 22nd Repl Bn when the unit formed in Fort Lewis in early '66. Ret'd to CONUS 4/68. We came ovber by troop ship and debarked in Cam Ranh. I had NO experience with telephone poles but Burdick and I learned, gaffed out a couple times ans set up our initial landlines.

That's Grayson, not Geayson.

Neat pictures of the Oldtown bridge. I used to live in Greenup County and once shot a roll of slides of the bridge.

This is Nutter Field House, not Baker Theater.

I got in country 2-1-68 as an E-2 rank and was transferred to Chu lai 178th co. about 2 wks. later. I spent the first 3 mos. on the line in maint. but signed up for crew chief and then on to a flt eng. which was very cool. I replaced Smoot on 466 who ETS'd around 1-1-69 and another name is Driscol out of Mt. so if any of you good old boys want to catch up donuts1948@gmail.com. This flt. line could have been either one. GOOD MEMORIES

You have so many beautiful photo's. Thanks for your comment's to my photo's.

Wow! Greetings from Manila.
