My parents, Mike and Tami Slayton, and my grandparents, Francis and Joann Barker live here. My grandparents have lived here since I was in elementary school and we visited often. Some of the best memories I have are here. I've brought my husband and children here to visit and sitting on this pier with my husband where I sat so many times as a child was magical. The gazebo at the ocean pool is also a favorite place of mine. I love how the water in the ocean pool tastes a bit salty from the ocean breeze. I hope to visit from Indianapolis again soon and often. This building is now owned by The Town of Cutler Bay and houses the Town Hall, Police & Building Departments as well as various other tenants.

Gilles is the classic drive-in. The food is decent, the ice-cream is great, and the girls here are all delightful and helpful. This place is a local landmark--Fond du Lac residents recognize the opening of Gilles each year as one of the first signs of spring.

I took this photo while getting on the turnpike from Allapattah, just before the toll booth. I was coming in from Black Point Marina and looked up and saw the most beautiful sunset I'd ever seen. I tried taking a shot from inside my car but it reflected back. I had to pull over where I could get it good, and thank God it waited a few minutes for me. Consequently, I almost got picked off by a passing car while taking this photo.
