The flash was supposed to kill the good light you had here, but it actually made it even more surreal... very good.

This old house was someone's old house, with a built in furnace which would be stoked with corn stalks. Then it was the waiting room for the intercity bus, with buses right behind the corner. Then, 1975 or so, the bus station was built and this became a gallery for the painters' association. I made this shot in summer 2005, and few days later the house was gone.

I was actually angling to have the crane hang on the tip of the trident - that pic should be here as well. I took this while walking back - couldn't resist the dynamic of the crowd.

And he IS so big.

I keep forgetting the order of these aquatic streets :).

The other city ordinance, which has no signs though, prohibits "cruising on Atlantic", which it defines as driving it twice within 30 minutes. In summer evenings when this would count, there's no way you can make two rounds in that time - the traffic is either go-stop-go slow, or just stuck.

And yet this is the city which refused to join Norfolk's light rail program because of "the noise", while having a naval base just about three miles behind the beach. Those jets are louder than any train.
