Interesting to see this picture, my father and our family where stationed there from 1969 to 1972, used to live in the house on the bottom left on the left side of the duplex. My yougest brother was born there.
New Picture 2014 loaded up to Google Earth coming soon. I have a friend that is one of the long time occupants. You can look at it now with other new Adak pics on my pic page. More coming as I am currently here for the next two months.
the whole island is littered with these, thank you for your comment
Man I had to pay 100 bucks a day to rent a wheeler to look for bombs and caribou and treasures and it wasn't near as nice as that.. Where do I get a side by side? oh well at least I found me a nice pair of waterproof army pants in one of those old bunkers!.. wahoo cause alaska airlines didnt want to wait for tsa to bring my clothing and cold weather gear to the plane. That trip was cold with no gear. As a courtesy they gave me 2000 free air miles.. wahoo. I would have appreciated a loaner rifle and some winter hunting gear. NOT a happy experience.. Anyways.. adak is an experience but the caribou are dwindling
