Well, I remember when the monument of V. I. Lenin used to stand here. Now the perspective is empty and definitely missing something. Are you happier now without this work of art? I am sure you didn’t knock down Grunwald Monument although created by the same artist who created sculpture of Lenin.
There are many places in this world where you can find monuments of Lenin and I’m not talking about ex Warsaw’s Pact countries but whole world.
Knocking down monuments is a barbaric act. Chinese did it during Mao Zedong revolution. Germans did it in 1940 to Adam Mickiewicz monument in Krakow.
Are you really happier now walking graffiti covered streets, shopping for used clothes sold by kilograms or buying garbage from Holland in sarcastically named “El Dorado” thrift store which used to be a nice movie theatre. Is your present reality better than that from 50’s, 60’s and 70’s? Do you feel safe in the streets of Nowa Huta at night?

What tower?
Huta im. Lenina – great potential totally wasted by Solidarity government.
