Thanks Ralph. We were visiting the area last year and travelling from Idaho to Logan on Interstate 84. I believe UT Rt. 89 was closed for repairs, so the GPS said we could take this county road (Short Divide Road) over the Clarkston Mountain Range into Cache Valley. As in most of our travels, back roads seldom disappoint.

Not many tourists travel up the southwest coast of Oahu, but scattered public beach parks like this provide a haven for local families to gather and socialize.

One of the island's favorite paragliding locations along Oahu's east coast.

Located on a former municipal landfill, this reclaimed, 30-acre beachfront park features picnic tables and a wonderful shoreline pedestrian promenade.

A popular windsurfing and snorkel area, Salt Pond Beach Park is adjacent to the only natural salt pond on Kauai still used today by descendents of ancient Hawaiians to make sea salt.

Located in the Ko'Olina Resort, these man-made lagoons are great swimming and snorkel spots. The outer rock barriers provide protection from the ocean and high surf.

A road located through the deep cut in the Waianae Mountains, known as Kolekole Pass, was constructed by the 3rd Engineers in 1937. Contrary to popular belief, Japanese planes did not approach through Kolekole pass, but flew along the inside of the mountain range making it appear as though they came through the pass enroute to Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.

Not noted as a beach to sunbathe or snorkel, Keehi Beach Park, about a mile from Honolulu Airport's runways, is an area primarily for boating or outrigger canoes.

Ala Moana Beach Park is located along the south shore of Waikiki beach.
