well, then thank you , great Dad : ) welcome to hengdong again, please let me know if you need any help out there, most of my friends like me grew up there and left for university and work and might not live there any more, but it would be much easier for me to help clear your troules if there is any : ); hengdong people are actually really friendly ( many of them never have chance seeing the outside world,I guess that's why they seemed overacted when facing you ).
I used to swim a lot here during summber time, thanks to this river and the coach who trained me strictly in a swimming team, I could swim 1.5 miles per hour now , 10 years after I left there. I really really missed that tough but happy time.
Hi Kayau, I find your comments interesting. However I do believe I have the location correct. I was not at the west end of Shamian Island on this trip. This photo is pretty much right near by the Victory Hotel. There is a photo posted nearby in google earth by someone named "church" which is titled "Shamian histotic urban district, Canton(Guangzhou),China". Thier photo is showing a restaurant with very tasty food and if you look closely you will notice two building along in the backround is the building I took a photo of.
When you ride 10 hours on a train in a different country it's pretty difficult to place photos you take along the way exactly. If you've a suggestion you can move the photo. I will let the new location update even though I'm more interested in the aesthetic of the rooftops and the countryside in the photo than with it's precise location. I believe there is some lapsed time between panoramio and google earth though. regards.
