The tall column is Nelson‘s Monument, commemorating his victory at Trafalgar. The ball at the top drops at 1pm every day, except Sunday, coinciding with the firing of the One O'Clock Gun from Edinburgh Castle.

The replacement for the 'bridge to nowhere', which connected the St James Centre to Calton Hill.

Henderson's Salad Bar, corner of Thistle Street and Hanover Street.

It's actually CALTON HILL (not Carlton) as you can see from the street sign)

Is the lighting strange on this? It doesn't look real. Or am I used to seeing it the way it is now, a bit more lived in and slightly dirty.

At least the murals on the walls were saved before any more damage was done to them...
