Yes, I see - the satellite photo appears to show no other structures than the light tower.

Wow! Bill was more potent than I thought (I am guessing that it was the large sea swells and not really the wind that did the damage). Any plans to restore it, or just let it go?

That's great, I hope they take good care of it. Here in California, many lights have been acquired by private or public owners, with the lights still being operated in most cases by the Coast Guard.

You're most welcome, it has been a pleasure seeing your photos. There is a waterfall on Mt. Katahdin on Katahdin Stream (Baxter State Park)that pours almost directly off the Tableland on the west that is reportedly ~800 feet high in a series of drops - but it is quite difficult to see from any established route (it is distantly visible from the Hunt Spur up the SW side of the mountain), and would require a titanic bushwhacking expedition to reach closely. For now, the better-known 60-70 foot Katahdin Stream Falls is the one to see along the Hunt Spur. If you have not been to Baxter State Park, I highly recommend it - it is one of my very favorite places in North America. If you have a bit of time, I have some shots of it on my Pano page, with a few more to come.

Wow! I am surprised - when we there it was not functioning (at least, no illumination). The other one nearby looked almost abandoned. Thanks for this!

This was not moved. This, and two others in Bethel were built by William Dunton as replicas of the Sunday River bridge.

This is Maine's only inland lighthouse. Back around 1900-1910, the elite had many yacht races on this lake. This lighthouse was used by the ladies during the races because it had a toilet.

This light has a 4th order fresnel lens. The light is now open to the public upon request.

A lucky keeper who gets to run this light - you can stay warm on the frostiest days, never have to leave the structure!
