Thank you for visiting, Rodema! Love this place, will go again when i have a chance.

Greetings, Inessa

When I was in the Seventh Grade or Eighth Grade we Studied about this Fort and seeing as it now stands and in the Condition it is in just makes me think how much we disregard our History and what it means to us from whence we came. You Travel all over this State and see signs of our History and one can tell it is important to an extent, but when it serves to show how we protected ourselves and what roll it played with our survival there are few reminders left to show to our Young. We no longer Teach Louisiana History in our Schools and that breaks my Heart to see. Out of all the Courses I had in what is Middle School now was called Junior High School back in the 1960's when I went. I enjoyed studying about the State I call Home and understanding what all took place in the Historical Make-up of this State and all the various Cultures that make-up this Wonderful State. I firmly believe this Fort could have been Re-enforced and made it useful for what it was intended for at that time and saved the State a could deal of Money and given this State a foot upon having Protection that was in demand at the Time and could still be of use Today for various reasons since it was fairly Close to the Mouth of the Mississippi River. A Vital Route used by the Shipping Industries and could have been used to Garner a Naval Port here in this State which would have given the Nation an Ideal Location for a Naval Port at that Time going Forward. The fort was intended to be part of the fortification protecting water routes towards New Orleans, Louisiana and not only there but also all across the Southern part of the State.
