Thanks for the answer, had a feeling it was such.
I was there on Friday 29th April 2011,
There is a RFC VC gravestone dated 1915,
a RAF gravestone 1918, within rows of each other.
Hi Gilles,
I'm a writer in Victoria, BC, who's involved in a debate whether to repair or replace a bridge that's very similar to this one. I'd like to use your photo to illustrate an article. Could you please contact me via rosscrockford(AT)telus.net to discuss the rights and usage? Thanks!
Ross
Murray, your cousin was in the 2nd Bn, the same as my grandfather, who was wounded at Pozieres in 1916, and sent home. The grave I originally set out to find was Clarence Allen, who was killed the same date as your cousin.
The Title is wrong - This is not a British Lion but rather the Monument to the Netherlands Army and the House of Orange, William Prince of Orange son of the King of the Netherlands which includes Belgium.
There is no monument to the British at Waterloo at present but it is hoped that one will be erected by 2015, go to www.projecthougoumont.com
suggest that the title is amended to Belgium Momument or 'Lion Mound' (Butte de Lion means Lion Mound)
