This lovely beach is another area that the Spanish Government is trying to reclaim, via confiscation, as part of its enforcement of the Ley de las Costas. Under this retrospectively enforced and unjust act all property from the tide mark to the end of the dunes, or where the dunes would have ended prior to development, is deemed to have been improperly constructed and thus becomes forfeit to the Government without compensation. This applies even if planning permission had been given by the local authority and even if the house was constructed well before the passing of the act in the 80's. The only compensation allowed is that the present owners may live in until the last of them dies. They may not rent it, sell it or bequeath it. Buyers beware. Your property rights in Spain are not sacrosanct!
