Hello John,
Lovely shot! I'm an art historian, currently writing a book on the life and work of John Rogers Herbert, R.A.. I've heard that there is a John Dedman living in Rome who may have inherited his journals and other information.
Could that possibly be you? Please contact me at nancinette@gmail.com if true!
Cheers, and sorry for the random comment! :-)
Thank you John Dedman! As a former resident of Pier House, whose sitting room looked out onto the Albert Bridge (so wonderful at night with the lights out in our flat!) I got so tired of people identifying the bridge incorrectly as the Battersea Bridge. Ironically, it runs between Chelsea and Battersea Park, there genuinely IS a Battersea Bridge, although it is further along the Thames. It bears a similarity to the Albert Bridge, but I always thought when I saw it (I loved spending time with friends leisurely taking a boat to Hampton Court Palace on a sunny weekend day)that "if the Albert Bridge had a 'dark side', it would look like the Battersea Bridge!" I'm not saying Battersea Bridge is "ugly". Far from it. It is just painted and coloured in a way that it almost looks like an old photo negative of Albert Bridge. (Friends visiting from the States always thought (especially when viewed at night) that Albert Bridge looked "like Disneyland". I beg your pardon! Hardly!
JOHN DEDMAN's conversations
really nice ...
Great ! Like it .
