Xavier A.'s conversations
I am a fiction writer and a journalist in my national language, FILIPINO. I am also a professor at the Graduate School of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines. I have been tracing the roots of my family since the 1960's. Some people are saying my ancestors were from Cuba; others say from Spain. However, since my country, the Philippines, had been colonized by Spain for more than 300 years, I am inclined to believe that my ancestors were really from Spain. I got fascinated with bullfighting when I learned that Antonio Ordonez or El Cordobes was the favorite matador then of the writer Ernest Hemingway and also of screen artists Orson Welles and Rita Hayworth. I salute the brothers Francisco and Cayetano. BRAVO! Bravo to all bullfighters surnamed Ordonez. I am running a website -- http://plumaatpapel.wordpress.com and my e-mail address is ka_rogerordonez@yahoo.com. I hope some people surnamed Ordonez will contact me to help me trace my roots. Again, bravo to the late Antonio, to the brothers Francisco and Cayetano, and to all great bullfighters.
