While I was working in the Cape Breton Highlands one winter, the snowfall was so severe the telephone booth near my home was nearly covered. I took this picture at Broad Cove, Victoria County when the snow levels peaked during the month of March.

Ingonish, Nova Scotia - I took this picture outside the house where I was living in the Cape Breton Highlands. There were many Moose in this area and I would often see them in the woods and on the roads. This one was walking down a newly plowed roadway and, for some reason, decided to stop precisely at the stop sign. I kind of chuckled to myself thinking maybe she could read!

Park Warden Stetson - This is the uniform hat I wore when I worked about three decades as a National Park Warden (Ranger). Obviously, it has lost some of its shape but was easily "dressed up" a bit by rolling the edges and accentuating the "dimpling". Although the stetson is a hallmark of the warden's job and is held dear to the heart of the organization and the men and women that serve, it was a very difficult uniform item to wear on a windy or rainy day. I often felt it was best left for use w

This was a portion of my approximately forty years working for "Uncle Sam" (Canadian version). This cap was preferred by most wardens I knew that worked in the field because it was very practical, easy to wear, durable and traveled well in the woods and bush.

There were issues in a number of colors and iterations over the years as there was some inconsistency in the uniform construction and color which is still being toyed with. In my opinion, this was the most professional looking design, one I fought hard for during my "hay day".
