"The comments from people"...? I have visited Poundbury, clearly, and as I am the photographer and only commentator you could possibly be referring to, I wonder where you are coming from... born and bred in Poundbury? (:-))

my folks live in a nearby village, Buckland Newton, which is much older but not very focused or architecturally interesting either, though it does have a good sense of community. I could be critical of that place as well if you like...

I live in a 16th century former pub in a Cotswold town where everyone is very friendly. It has a delightful market house not disimilar in basic design to this one, but not so clumsy, crude and heavy looking. If you checked out my other photos you would have seen my village square, (followed the clues), - but posting assumptions before thinking seems to be a common online habit.

The people here do seem to focus on the village life so confidently and happily because it has such strong traditions. As I said - this is very hard to simulate or stimulate with a new build, very slow to develop anywhere - maybe that's why it contrasted so strongly... and as I also said - if you like it, FINE - don't get knickers twisted, but my view remains unaltered and your writing doesn't prompt any desire to revisit the place...

Thanks - it was hard to recognise it from the google earth image - and the emotions of going through that slave export castle made me dizzy on the day in question...

being a president has its risks too - I remember seeing the site where the last one was shot. - Not sure about the tax system in Ghana, but the rich tend to use it to get richer...
