I was a little underwhelmed by this lighthouse. It was a very long drive in thru a Chippewa native reserve (which must have been one of the most depressing places I have ever been in Canada). The lighthouse itself was the lease impressive of all the lighthouses on the Bruce Pinninsula.
Of all the lighthouses on the Bruce Pinninsula, this is the nicest. It is the stereotypical lighthouse you see in movies. This 149 yr old lighthouse is 87ft high, with 114 (very narrow, steep) steps to the top. This is a National Historic Site and requires guided tours if you want to climb it.
The drive in is almost as nice as the lighthouse itself. From the nearest public road, it is 10km of single lane gravel road wedged between the cobble beach and 100m Niagara Escarpment.
