This pancaking is simply rock that has formed on the sea floor (a few M years ago...) Then been uplifted at some point, then the weather & sea took it out on it.

OMG!!! It's not raining there... Been across that bridge about 8 or 9 times, only once, in mid summer, it was not comming down cats & dogs. Last time was 3 days before 2000 - it was pouring down that day!!! My boys (adults now) got out to walk to the bridge or a bit before the bridge, to look down at the Haast River roaring downstream.

Lupin. Like thisles, gorse & a few others, came to NZ as stuffing in matresses, pillows etc from Scotland. A few herbs too... Good stuff the herbs!

Sure glad I was not a gold miner back in those days - Skippers was a big mining area, as was Arrowton & many other places. They still get gold in places... but thats commercially mined.
