Mission Dolores - König, Gott, Volk, Tod, Wer weiß?
Zu diesem Bild habe ich unter "Guillermo Granizo", dem Künstler, der die WandKeramik gemacht hat, Folgendes gefunden:
Born in 1923, Guillermo Granizo is a listed American painter who worked primarily in ceramic and porcelain. He was born in San Francisco, California, but lived in Guatemala and Nicaragua for eleven years.
This ceramic mural by San Francisco artist Guillermo Granizo, at the Mission San Francisco de Asís depicts the arrival of the San Carlos in the San Francisco Bay while presenting at the same time the arrival of the military representative of Spain, Juan Bautista de Anza, and Father Junipero Serra to symbolize the bringing of the Good News of the Christian gospel to the natives of California. Father Serra holds in his hand a plan for the facade of Mission Dolores.
The sails of the shop tell the story of the coming civilization to the arae. REY signifies the Spanish sponsorship of the colonization; DIOS the spiritual element brought by the expedition; and MUERTE to indicate the gradual disappearance of the Native people of this area.
