I will be there. Just let me know when. Jerry N4JJM

Out of all the viewable mountains looking northwest from the Waterrock Knob Visitor Center, the National Park Service could not correctly identify 3 mountains. The National Park Service has incorrectly identified Mt Chapman as Mt Guyot (339º/18 miles/6621'). I only identified a few mountains in this view because I want to discourage the blatant plagiarism of my work by the National Park Service as the National Park Service did on the Clingman's Dome panels. About ¾ of the correctly identified mountains on their Clingman's Dome panels were plagiarized from my Clingman's Dome work. The National Park Service does not have permission to use any of my work in any manner. For the Google Earth users, here is the Google Earth file associated with this view.

Out of all the viewable mountains looking southeast from the Waterrock Knob Visitor Center, the National Park Service could not correctly identify 6 mountains. The National Park Service has incorrectly identified Little Hogback Mountain as Toxaway Mountain (159º/25 miles/4777') and Shortoff Mountain as Yellow Mountain (187º/23 miles/5127'). The incorrect identification of Toxaway Mountain is particularly pathetic since Toxaway Mountain is the only mountain in that area with a firetower and the firetower can easily be seen with binoculars. The National Park Service "geniuses" at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park have done it again! Out of all the viewable mountains from their Purchase Knob webcam, the National Park Service has correctly identified none of them. The National Park Service has identified Camp Creek Bald (34º/36 miles/4839') as Round Mountain, Big Bald (49º/43 miles/5516') as Bald Mountain and Crabtree Bald (64º/10 miles/4740') as Newfound Mountain/Sandymush Bald. The Black Mountains are not in my photograph from the Appalachian Highlands Science Learning Center at Purchase Knob. The direction to Mount Mitchell appears to be wrong but the quality of the National Park Service photo of the Black Mountains is so poor, I can't distinguish the individual mountains. It appears that the National Park Service has identified the area of Clingman's Peak in the Black Mountains as Mount Mitchell. See the National Park Service Purchase Knob webcam page and look at their "LANDMARKS". I have added a few of the other mountains viewable from the Appalachian Highlands Science Learning Center at Purchase Knob. I suspect that the National Park Service (NPS) has blatantly plagiarized my work. When I did my work identifying the visible peaks from Clingman's Dome in 2004, the NPS had incorrectly identified nearly half the peaks. The NPS panels on Clingman's Dome had Gregory Bald (262º) identified as Shuckstack (253º), Rocky Top (270º) identified as Gregory Bald (262º), Standing Indian (184º) identified as Mica Knob (174º) and Blanket Mountain (304º) identified as Meigs Mountain (306º). On the current panels on Clingman's Dome, only 4 of the correctly identified peaks were on the panels present in 2004. All of the correctly identified peaks on the current panels are identified in my work. All of the peaks on the current panels that are not in my work are incorrectly identified. See the Clingman's Dome web page on my web site for further details.
