Joe Sledge's conversations

piratejoe, love your brontosaurus (now called Apatosaurus)! What a great find! Perhaps the fence is electrified or maybe the fence is to keep his enemies at arms length. Maybe he put it up himself? :)

Have a great day, Jean

Follow Hillsborough's King Street east into the parking lot of the board of education and park there. You will see a one-room school house, a commemoration of the execution of the Regulators and a pathway leading downhill to the icehouse. I was there once three years ago, and this scene is how I remember it. The Orange County Historical Museum at West Tryon and North Churton has offered a free booklet with notes on this site and others in Hillsborough. It's worth getting one.

Not sure the history. Just metal or plastic palm tree on a sandbar. Sandbar is underwater at high tide.

These giant legs on welcome Ave in Henderson NC. You can park right past them on the side of the road. they're made out of concrete and are looking a little worn out now.

We had one of those rare chances to tour the Walker home on a Carmel tour of homes. The inside is surprisingly small, or maybe not so surpisingly, as Wright often kept his hallways and entrances tight to get people to move into the living space.
