In the square outside St Gervais-Saint Protais is an elm tree planted in 1914, a little to the right of where one stood in the Middle Ages. Under this tree, debts and disputes were settled. The elm is represented inside the church, carved on some of the choir stalls.

15 rue Vielle-du-Temple. The façade of the 18th century building was embellished with this mosaic work in 1946, and is signed H. Frezza, Paris. It used to be a butcher shop.The shop is now a women's clothing store called Kazana.

This is the delicatessen of Florence Finkelsztajn. That of Sacha Finkelsztajn is further along Rue des Rosiers. Melis also has a photo of this on Panoramio (3201283)

The view fom the courtyard of this apartment is probably typical of many in Paris. THe apartment is accessed through large wooden doors on the street, using a security coded system. Once inside the street noises subside as one passes through a passageway into a first courtyard, then another passage into a second courtyard. THE second courtyard is walled where it adjoins the next building.
