The park just re-opened this year. It has been closed for over 10 years. Great plcae for family camping.
I am a nature photographer and was in this park on 11-07-2007 jumped the railing thinking that the park ranger was runing late.
While taking some picture or red tail haws as they like to frequent this park at dawn oh around 0820 hrs saw my first florida panther. uncollard and approaching.
Needless to say I was scared out of my mind, screamed like a little girl and walked back the entire path way. Completely missed the shot of the panther.
That has changed my life for the better. Now I am on the hunt to photograph as many as I can find.
I have been back to this park as there has been many reports of sight a panther. All i find when I go back is scat.
Our company produces DVD-based educational programs on various science topics for students in grades 4-9. You can see our work at www.freshscience.com. We're in the midst of producing a unit on Virginia Ecology for the Fairfax County Schools. As such, we would like permission to use your Swift Run Overlook image. It would be used to illustrate the ridge and valley region of Virginia.
This leads to my inquiry with you. I am writing to ask permission to use your image. If you allow us permission we can download the image from Panoramio.
We would, of course, be happy to credit you on the DVD and in the printed teacher guide.
I hope I have given you sufficient information on which to fulfill our request. If not, please do not hesitate to e-mail me or give me a call at 770-521-8980.
I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,

You make the Appalachians look like the barren foothills of the West.
