"Unterhaus", best translated with "the lower situated house". On top of the hill in the back
the "Oberhaus"is standing. Best ransltian for this name is "the house that stand on top, higher". The Oberhaus actually was succeeding the Unterhaus as the palace of the bishop of Passau. Both were connected, so a save route from one to anothe was at hand, if necessary.
